Hooded Child Scarf
This one-skein child-size hooded scarf features pockets at the ends to keep your hands warm, without the worry about loosing mittens or using a string to keep mittens attached.
I knit this using Loops & Threads brand Charisma Rugby Yarn in the color palette Goal. My brother is a Giants fan and his wife is an Eagles fan, so a green and blue scarf for their youngest son kept it neutral (although the Giants are definitely better than the Eagles). Using only one skein means it's small, which is OK since the little one is 6. Because the yarn was bulky, it knit up quickly.
This was rather fun to design. I started in the round with the triangular shaped pocket, and moved into a basket weave to make it reverse-able. The color change lineup happened all on its own. When I knit through a bit less than half of the yarn, I set it aside and I knit from the other end of the ball, repeating the pattern. I then fashioned the hood with the center of the ball of yarn. I did have to cut it, but it was at the top of the hood so there was almost no waste.
Want the pattern? Let me know.
